Introduction

The Hyster RS45 container handling vehicle offers exceptional flexibility for a wide range of applications and is available in various configurations.
All models in the RS45 series are capable of lifting to stack and store containers on the first level, up to six containers.
The telescopic boom allows yard operators to stack fully loaded containers up to three levels deep.
A wide range of equipment and options perfectly suits many different applications, including: container handling, barge handling, container unloading, steel transport, etc.

Key Features 

Reliability:
 
The durable two-section telescopic boom design is made of T-1 steel and features double-sided welded strength.
The main body of the frame is reinforced with welds, and the rear is also reinforced.
A transmission protection system triggered by overheating is standard equipment to effectively reduce damage to the vehicle.
Lower fluid temperatures extend component lifespan, which is why the Hyster uses a cooling system.
Designed for ambient temperatures up to 120°F, the cooling system is more efficient.

Safety:
 
The transmission is fully electronically controlled: a transmission protection system protects against high temperatures and high/low oil pressures; forward/reverse locks prevent changes in direction.
If the system detects a problem, it will downgrade the engine to a slow mode without taking immediate action.
An engine protection system is standard and is designed to protect against low oil pressure and high coolant temperature.

The Hyster RS45 ReachStackers offer four modes for a progressive increase in average speed, achieving a top speed of 81 fpm (0.41 m/sec) under both full and empty loads, which is remarkably fast in the industry.
The Hyster ReachStackers feature the PowerShift 4-speed automatic transmission with APC 300 electronic controller, the same as found in the Spicer Off-Highway TE series.
The "Smooth Shift" feature is electronically enabled, and a throttle retraction function during gear shifts eliminates transmission shock.

- Joystick for intuitive control of boom Lift and -Telescope, and spreader functions: Sideshift, Rotation, Telescope 20'-40', Twistlocks unlocking (locking is     automatic). 

- Full-suspension fully adjustable driver's seat with a high backrest, seat belt, seat switch for park brake warning buzzer and operator presence system. 
- Map reading light, extra air circulation fan. 

- Wide-view rear view mirrors inside the cab, and outside on the front fenders.

The Hyster CH model has a Powered PARTIAL-sliding cab. It can slide to any position over a distance of 0.9 m, to achieve optimum visibility in variable operating conditions and/or to accommodate drivers preferences. 

- The Powered Sliding Cab is operated by a switch in the cab, to save time this can be done while 
driving and/or lifting.

- The fully backward cab position gives the most comfortable view angle when stacking containers (4-5) high. This position can also be preferred by some drivers seeking the comfort of being behind the lift cylinders. 

- The partial forward cab position (0.9 m max.) gives uncluttered visibility to 40' (and 45' !) containers, from low height (lorry bed) up to higher lifting heights. 

- Cab access / exit is only possible in the rearward position.
